John A. Palmer BA (Hons)

John was admitted as a Solicitor in December 1988 and he initially practised in the area of criminal law with a prominent West End firm.

He subsequently moved into the area of general commercial law and commercial litigation and has been involved in a number of landmark cases such as Euro Cellular v H M Customs & Excise, Islam v Ali and Tonge v London Borough of Harrow, to name but a few. These cases have been right across the spectrum from matters dealt with in the County Court, the High Court, up to the House of Lords.

John also specialises in matrimonial work of high to medium value and also practices in the areas of insolvency and personal bankruptcy.

John appears as Solicitor Advocate on a regular basis.

In the commercial sphere, he has acted for and continues to act for a number of small to medium size organisations negotiating, drafting and closing diverse contracts on their behalf.

John’s approach to matters, both commercial and litigious is to be proactive in identifying the real issues as swiftly as possible and to seek to address the same, both from a commercial and client conscious point of view.

Adrian C. England BA (Hons) Law

Adrian England has been in practice since 1982 when he started his professional life in The Temple, London. He subsequently worked in the West End and Kent, moving to Guildford in 1991 where he has been in practice ever since.

The current partnership was formed some nine years ago when John Palmer and Adrian England met and resolved to form a new firm, both in the City and Guildford.

Areas of expertise range from commercial and civil litigation together with family and related matters. Adrian also has a special interest in motoring and employment cases.

During the course of the past 17 years or so, Adrian has represented a number of PLC building companies in substantial commercial litigation matters.

Adrian lives in Ripley, a village just outside of Guildford in which he is actively involved both socially and professionally.

Marina Solomou BA (Hons.)

Marina joined England Palmer in September 2005 and was admitted as a Solicitor in October 2008.

Marina assists clients in a wide range of matters including drafting and advising on Contracts, Wills and Leases. She has also assisted in obtaining grants of probate and letters of administration for executors of estates.

Prior to joining England Palmer Marina worked for the Crown Prosecution Service Head Office and she completed a placement within the legal department of the BBC.

Victor Fanawopo has been in practice as a Solicitor since November 1990 and is a Graduate Member of IOSH, the professional body representing Health & Safety practitioners in England and Wales.

Victor has developed a wide understanding of the legal issues affecting individuals, Local Authorities and Industry, having worked as a solicitor in private practice, within Local Government and for over10 years as an in-house lawyer for J Sainsbury plc.

His experience covers advising on all aspects of general business law, such as Civil Litigation/Dispute Resolution and Contract law. However, Victor specialises in Employment law and Regulatory Compliance in the areas of Health and Safety, Fire Safety and ‘Retail law’, such as Food Safety, Consumer Protection, Price Control and Trading Standards.

Victor acts as the Chair of the Retail and Distribution Section of the South East Branch of IOSH and sits on the IOSH South East Branch Executive Committee.
